Town centre takeover kicks off new vision for Stockport County Community Trust

Stockport County Community Trust marked the launch of its new vision for 2030 with a community takeover in Stockport town centre.

Fun activities for all ages, from speed cage football challenges to drawing competitions, came to Merseyway Shopping Centre on Thursday 30th July, where guests also had the chance to meet County players  Ben Osborn, Lewis Fiorini and Jack Diamond and the club’s much-loved mascot, Vernon Bear.

Visitors could learn more about the Community Trust’s work by engaging with Trust staff and watching demonstrations of programmes. The Health and Wellbeing Team delivered astrength and conditioning session, showcasing how the programme supports participants in returning to exercise safely and confidently. Participants also shared personal stories about the positive impact the Trust’s programmes have had on their physical and mental wellbeing.

The event marked the launch of the 2026–2030 Trust strategy, setting out its vision for 2030: Driven by Community, Powered by County.

The strategy builds on the progress that the Trust has made since its first strategy in 2023 and reinforces Stockport County’s mission to keep community and education at the heart of the Club’s long-term development. Hereby ensuring the Club’s success is measured not only by achievements on the pitch, but by its lasting impact across the borough.

The afternoon also provided an opportunity to reflect on the Trust’s growth since its first strategy was published in 2023, with more than 10,000 people now engaging with its programmes each year.
