Stockport’s Vernon Building Society is seeking a new voluntary Trustee to join its Vernon Charitable Foundation.
The Vernon Charitable Foundation was established to continue the Stockport mutual’s long history of giving back, and enables the organisation to support more causes and groups in Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
The Vernon Building Society is now looking for a Trustee to help run Vernon Charitable Foundation, who will be responsible for supporting, governing, and strengthening the Foundation’s objectives to promote community development.
The Foundation’s trustees meet every quarter (in person or online) to discuss and award grants to charitable organisations within Greater Manchester and Cheshire. The role of Trustee is voluntary.
Across all of the foundation’s Trustees, the Vernon is looking for people who have:
- An understanding of the most pressing issues within Greater Manchester and Cheshire.
- Experience in grant-making, monitoring, evaluation and influencing social change.
- An ability to think creatively and work effectively as part of a team.
- Experience of chairing meetings.
- A willingness to be hands on.
Further information about the Vernon Charitable Foundation can be found on the mutual’s website. To be considered for the position of Trustee, send a covering letter via email to the Foundation team before applications close on 10th April 2026.
