Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) has launched a new Business Travel Hub to make it easier for businesses to promote sustainable forms of transport for colleagues.
The service has been developed from business engagement activity, where employers have told TfGM that it’s been confusing to understand what public transport and active travel options are available for staff to use, and to signpost employees in the right direction.
Promoting the use of public transport and active travel can help staff to save money, have a better commuting experience, and travel more sustainably – reducing an organisation’s carbon footprint at the same time.
The Business Travel Hub includes downloadable materials (images, videos, social and newsletter copy, posters) which can be adapted for use in the workplace to promote sustainable travel, for example in internal newsletters, on noticeboards or via the intranet. There’s also some advice and guidance on how to use the materials.
Available resources include static images, short videos/GIFs, social media copy, newsletter copy, and posters. Assets could be used in the workplace to promote sustainable travel in the following ways:
- The images and adaptable social media copy could be used on internal communications channels, such as your Intranet, LinkedIn groups, newsletters sent to clients or networks.
- The adaptable newsletter text could be used on internal communications channels, new starter packs, newsletters you send to staff, clients, or networks.
- The poster could be printed and put up on site in staff kitchens, lifts, noticeboards.
- To amplify internal sustainability policies, businesses could add their own logo to the images and poster (alongside the Bee Network logo).
The full suite of resources available to help organisations promote sustainable travel can be found on the TfGM wesbite’s new Business Travel Hub here.
