Swedish engineering group, Storskogen, has announced the acquisition of a Stockport-based manufacturer of electronics parts, Darlington EMS.
The group has acquired 90% of the shares in the business, which generated sales of £8.1 million in 2025. Darlington EMS is a manufacturer of electronic parts and components, specialising in wiring harnesses, printed circuit board assembly, and control panel design and build, with its products used across sectors including infrastructure, health and wellbeing and automation.
The acquisition supports Storskogen’s ongoing strategy to strengthen its presence in key markets outside of its native Sweden, including the UK.
Chris Pullen, Head of Storskogen UK, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Darlington EMS to Storskogen. The Company’s strong position in a niche market with significant barriers to entry makes it an excellent addition to our portfolio, and we see potential for collaboration with similar businesses in the Group.”
Following the sale, Darlington EMS’s 70 employees at its site in Bredbury will be part of Storskogen’s Automation vertical. The business will continue to be led by its existing management team, including managing director, David Darlington. He commented:
“Joining Storskogen marks an exciting new chapter for Darlington EMS. Becoming part of an international group will offer our business new opportunities for growth, innovation and collaboration. We believe that Storskogen’s long-term perspective and broad network will not only strengthen our ability to serve our existing customers, but also open doors to new markets and partnerships.”
