Stockport Council’s fostering team has taken part in this year’s Christmas Tree Festival at St Paul’s Church in Heaton Moor to help celebrate fostering families across the borough.
Running on Tuesdays and Saturdays throughout December, the festival highlights local creativity and community spirit with Christmas trees decorated by local businesses and organisations.
Stockport Council’s fostering team’s tree has been decorated with handmade decorations created by the fostering community, including painted handprints made by children and young people living with local foster families.
Cllr Wendy Meikle (pictured), Cabinet Member for Children, Families and Education, said:
“Christmas can be a challenging time for the children and young people in care and our local foster carers do an amazing job making them feel safe and secure in a loving family environment over the festivities. Seeing these decorations is so heartwarming – knowing each one represents a happy, cherished memory for the child or young person who made it.”
The Christmas Tree Festival at St Paul’s Church in Heaton Moor will be open to the public over the festive season on the following dates:
- Saturday 20 December 9:30am – 11am
- Tuesday 30 December 4:30pm – 6pm
- Saturday 3 January 9.30am – 11am
