Employees across the depot network of Stockport headquartered wholesaler, Parfetts, have celebrated the business being employee-owned on national EO Day on 23rd June.
Staff in Parfetts eight depots enjoyed a mixture of music, free pizza and fun to mark Employee Ownership (EO) Day, which provides an opportunity for employee-owned businesses across the UK to celebrate and raise awareness of the benefits of this model of running a business.
Parfetts has been an employee-owned business since 2018. The company’s staff have a say in the direction of the business through an employee voice council in each depot.
As part of the EO Day celebrations, the business announced the sales growth bonus in July will be 4%. The growth bonus paid in July, comes alongside a profit share bonus paid in October, which allows everyone to share in the success of the business.
Commenting on the day, Guy Swindell, joint managing director of Parfetts, said:
“EO Day provides a fantastic opportunity for everyone to come together and remind ourselves what makes Parfetts special. Employee ownership gives us the freedom to go the extra mile for our customers and be kind to each other. Everyone in the business has a say in the future of Parfetts, and we believe that it sets us apart from competitors.”
In March, the Stockport wholesaler announced an extraordinary pay rise of 7.5% for salaried staff to help them manage the rising cost of living, while weekly paid Parfetts employees see an increase of 9.6% to hourly rates. Staff also benefited from an extra day of paid holiday, and colleagues can take additional unpaid holidays to a maximum allowance of 38 days for full-time staff.
Stockport based Parfetts is one of the largest employee-owned companies in the UK (28th). The top 50 largest employee-owned companies account for £23.1 billion in sales and employ over 181,000 people.
