Paul McKay, who is the Corporate Tax Director at Booth Ainsworth LLP has hit the headlines in the national press with his comments relating to HMRC underpayments.
In the latter part of last year Paul outlined his frustrations about the extra statutory concessions in an excellent article in Taxation magazine, which was called ‘Jumping the Gun’.
Following on from this Paul became a spokesman for Money Mail and commented on his stance against the HMRC not providing enough support to people who get the there tax codes wrong.
More than 20 million codes, which tell you how much of your income will be tax free, are sent to 16 million people at the time of year. Mistakes can occur which can leave someone paying too much or too little tax in future years.
