With the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift set to bring world class cycling through Stockport in 2027, local residents are being invited to volunteer to help make the day unforgettable.
Residents can sign up as JOY Makers to help welcome the cycling world to Britain as part of the 2027 Grand Départ.
Cllr Dan Oliver, Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Public Protection at Stockport Council, said:
“This is a huge moment for our borough, and local people can be right at the heart of it. You do not need to be a cycling fan to get involved. Being a JOY Maker is about creating a brilliant atmosphere, supporting visitors and showing off the very best of Stockport and helping to welcome the world when one of the biggest sporting events arrives on our streets.”
In addition to helping supporting the smooth running of the event, becoming a JOY Maker also enables Stockport residents to:
- Be part of a historic moment for the UK
- Help bring an incredible atmosphere to Stockport
- Meet new people and feel part of a community
- Build confidence and learn new skills
- Add something special to your CV
Thousands of volunteers will take part across the country, helping create the energy, pride and sense of occasion that make events like this so memorable.
