Stockport libraries become part of Live Well network

Stockport residents will be able to access information, advice and support from libraries across the borough across areas including health and wellbeing, money and cost of living, housing, work and learning as they join the network of Live Well spaces.

Stockport Council is launching a network of Live Well centres and spaces across the borough, which will have Stockroom as its flagship space. The network connects into local libraries, as well as Family Hubs and leisure centres across Stockport, Cornerstone, and the council’s digital offer.

Support available through Live Well covers all areas of everyday life, including health and wellbeing, money and cost of living, housing, work and learning, family and relationships, staying independent, feeling safe and connected, and getting involved in your community and local events.

As well as local spaces, the Live Well directory brings together support in one place online, helping residents easily find the right information, advice and services.

A launch event took place at Offerton Library, showcasing how libraries are already supporting communities. Groups such as the Tuesday Club offer a warm and welcoming space for people to connect, take part in activities and build friendships, helping reduce loneliness and support wellbeing.

Cllr Dan Oliver, Stockport Council’s Cabinet Member for Communities, Culture and Sport, said:

“We want everyone in Stockport to be able to find the right help, in the right place, at the right time. That is what Live Well is all about. By bringing this approach into our libraries and rolling it out across our leisure centres, Cornerstone and other community spaces over the coming months, we are making it easier for residents to get support wherever they are and know they will receive the same level of help wherever they go.

“Live Well is about helping people earlier and building stronger communities so everyone in Stockport can live healthier, happier lives. I encourage residents to visit their local Live Well space or explore what is available online and see what is on offer for them.”
