
Stockport Homes Group has announced it has signed up to the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge, a national scheme by HouseProud and Stonewall Housing allowing social housing providers to demonstrate their commitment to supporting their LGBTQ+ residents.
Signing the pledge is a formal demonstration by Stockport Homes Group of its dedication to creating inclusive, welcoming neighbourhoods where all customers feel respected and valued.
It follows the housing provider have previously been named by LGBTQ+ charity, Stonewall, in its Top 100 Employers list for creating a welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer staff. Stockport Homes is also a regular sponsor of the town’s annual Pride festival, a role it is reprising again for 2025’s event on 1st June.
Steve Partridge, Chair of Stockport Homes Board, said:
“We strive for the best possible service for LGBTQ+ residents and believe everybody deserves a safe, welcoming home where they can freely express themselves without fear or prejudice. Through supporting this scheme, we’re demonstrating our commitment to giving LGBTQ+ residents a say in the decisions that affect them.“
HouseProud, of which Stockport Homes is an active member, was established in 2014 as a network for LGBTQ+ people working within the social housing sector. It brings together a wide range of organisations including housing associations, ALMOs, local authorities and care providers. Its key aims are to provide networking opportunities for LGBTQ+ staff, to campaign on LGBTQ+ related issues, and to ensure excellent services for LGBTQ+ customers.
