Stockport Homes Group has for the third year running been named by LGBTQ+ charity Stonewall as among the Top 100 UK employers for LGBTQ+ people.
Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers list ranks businesses based on efforts and commitment to create a welcoming environment for lesbian, gay, bi, trans and queer staff. The charity assesses organisations using a standardised set of criteria, including how inclusive their HR policies are of queer staff, and how LGBTQ+ identities are celebrated at work.
The latest recognition for Stockport Homes Group follows recent research by Stonewall that 35% of LGBTQ+ staff hide their identities in the workplace , with 18% having been subject to negative comments as a result of their identity.
Through a range of initiatives, SHG continually strive to ensure these statistics are not reflected in their teams, which has been reflected in receiving an accolade from Stonewall for its commitment to LGBTQ+ inclusion in the workplace.
Jenny Osbourne, Chair of Stockport Homes Board, commented:
“We are delighted to have placed in a Top 100 position for the third year running. Ensuring we are an inclusive and welcoming organisation is important to us. We couldn’t have achieved this without the supportive work of our Proud Colleague LGBTQ+ group and Houseproud NW (the North West network for LGBTQ+ people working in housing) and its Rainbow Roofs group for LGBTQ+ customers living in social housing.“
