Stockport homelessness charity, The Wellspring, is calling on the community to take part in a Sponsored Sleepout 2024 on Saturday, 12th October.
Based in Stockport town centre, the organisation the chosen charity of Stockport Homes Group this year. The Wellspring provides essentials like clothing and foods, as well as assistance with mental health, housing, and employment to people experiencing homelessness and in 2023, the charity served over 63,000 meals and delivered 6,000 1:1 support sessions.
Homelessness in Stockport and Greater Manchester has reached alarming levels, with 7,407 people (or 1 in every 74) experiencing homelessness across the county. Participants in the Sleepout will spend the night in Stockport experiencing just a fraction of what it is like to be without a home. The event kicks off at 6:30 pm and wraps up at 8:00 am the next morning.
This powerful event not only raises much-needed funds but also shines a spotlight on the harsh realities of homelessness. Every penny raised will go directly towards supporting The Wellspring’s ongoing efforts to help those in need.
