The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in Stockport is calling on local employers, training providers, and industry experts to help inspire and support local people into employment through its rolling programme of employability workshops.
DWP Stockport currently delivers two employability programmes designed to meet the needs of local jobseekers at different stages of their work search journey.
The first programme forms part of Movement to Work, supporting young people into employment — a key national and local priority for the department. The second programme, Steps to Success, is designed in-house for returners to work and people with limited experience of work.
To complement these workshops, DWP Stockport regularly invites guest speakers from the business community and training and skills sector to engage directly with participants. These sessions provide invaluable insight into the modern workplace and recruitment landscape.
Local employers and specialists are encouraged to contribute by sharing their real world expertise, for example:
- What makes a CV stand out in today’s recruitment market
- How candidates can perform confidently and effectively at interview
- A “day in the life” insight into entry?level roles and progression opportunities
By working together, DWP Stockport and its partners can give local people the knowledge, confidence, and connections they need to take their next step into employment.
If you or your business would like to get involved, contact Kathryn Butler at Stockport Job Centre for further information.
