Stockport County have sacked their manager Jim Gannon after a difficult spell ended with the hatters losing by 3 goals to 1 at Edgeley Park to visitors Mansfield Town.
Supporters were shocked to hear that Gannon, 44, was sacked during his second spell in charge after returning in November 2011, but the Hatters are now 21st in the table after Tuesday’s defeat.
“James Gannon has been relieved of all football duties,” said a club statement released late on Tuesday.
“The board will be meeting to determine his successor.”
County have won just one of their last nine matches.
