Stockport County is continuing its commitment to support grassroots football across the borough through its Grassroots Football Fund as the new season begins.
For the 2026/27 season, Stockport County has awarded a total of almost £20,000 in direct grants and £10,000 worth of equipment vouchers to 23 grassroots clubs across Stockport. Applications to the Grassroots Fund has been facilitated by the club’s Community Trust.
Feedback from grassroots clubs has helped shape this season’s investment, with the Grassroots Football Fund focusing on two key priorities: supporting the growth of girls’ football, and providing extra support to clubs in Stockport’s most deprived communities.
Stockport County Club President Steve Bellis said:
“The feedback from clubs this year has once again shown just how valuable this fund continues to be across our local football community. Whether that’s helping clubs keep football affordable for families, supporting the growth of girls’ teams, investing in coaching or creating opportunities for more young people to play, the impact reaches far beyond the pitch.”
Stockport County will also continue its partnership with Net World Sports to help maximise the Grassroots Football Fund’s impact through discounted equipment vouchers for clubs across Stockport.
Damon Traverse, Marketing Manager at Net World Sports, said:
“At Net World Sports, we believe every club, no matter the size, deserves access to premium training equipment. Partnering with Stockport County FC allows us to give back directly to the grassroots teams that form the beating heart of the local sports community. We’re thrilled to play a part in equipping these clubs for a successful new season.”
