
The new Executive of Stockport Council has been confirmed at the annual council meeting.
The Executive is the main decision making body of the council and is responsible for the strategic management of services.
As expected, following last month’s local elections, Alex Ganotis is the new council leader, replacing Sue Derbyshire, while Cllr Wendy Wild is his deputy.
The new executive members together with their portfolios are:
- Cllr Alex Ganotis (Leader of Stockport Council/Policy, Finance and Devolution)
- Cllr Wendy Wild (Deputy Leader of Stockport Council/Adult Social Care)
- Cllr Sheila Bailey (Communities and Housing)
- Cllr Kate Butler (Economy and Regeneration)
- Cllr Dean Fitzpatrick (Education)
- Cllr Colin Foster (Children and Family Services)
- Cllr Tom McGee (Health)
- Cllr David Sedgwick (Reform and Governance)
Cllr Ganotis said: “This innovative and dynamic executive team will be committed to working hard in the best interests of everybody in Stockport.
“The new Executive will provide the vision, energy and leadership needed to ensure that Stockport remains such a fantastic place to live, work and visit.
“We also commit to work in partnership with residents and stakeholders to ensure Stockport is able to fulfil its incredible potential.”
