Stockport Council is celebrating Foster Care Fortnight (11-24 May), raising awareness of the incredible impact of foster care, and encouraging more people to become foster carers.
This year’s Foster Care Fortnight theme “This is Fostering” shines a light on the everyday realities of fostering, raising awareness of the profound impact foster carers have on children’s lives and recognising the incredible skills and dedication of our local community of foster carers.
Stockport Council Fostering Service is hosting events throughout May for local residents to learn more about what becoming a foster carer involves. There are drop-in sessions at Hat Works, Merseyway Shopping Centre and at the town hall, as well as online events. The fostering team will also be at Bramhall’s Duck Race on Sunday 17 May where they will be available to chat to about fostering and also cheering on their duck in the race!
For information about all the fostering events taking place please visit the Stockport Council website.
Stockport businesses can also explore becoming Fostering Friendly Employers, helping to promote and celebrate fostering while adopting workplace policies to support staff who are foster carers.
