Stockport Council has appointed Laura Green as the borough’s new Head of Regeneration after holding the position on a temporary basis since last year on secondment from the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation (MDC), Place North West has reported.
Prior to her appointment, Green served as a development manager at Stockport MDC since its launch. She began her property career in Stockport at commercial estate agents, Buckley Commercial (now Fairhurst Buckley following a 2020 merger with Fairhurst Estates), followed by a year with MCR Property Group before entering the public sector as a development surveyor for Manchester City Council.
As Head of Regeneration for Stockport, Laura Green will oversee both the town centre’s ambitious pipeline of projects, as well as schemes across the borough. She will report to the council’s assistant director of regeneration and development Jude Barker.
Paul Richards, Deputy Chief Executive of Stockport Council, said:
“We are delighted to welcome Laura as our new head of regeneration and pleased she was successful in a very competitive recruitment process.
“Laura has been integral to the success of Stockport MDC over the last five years and her new role allows her to use her wealth of experience to deliver our ambitious regeneration agenda across the borough, creating a place where people can thrive.“
Stockport Council is currently continuing to recruit for a Director of Regeneration and Development to succeed Paul Richards following his promotion to Deputy Chief Executive last year.
Richards added:
“With further key appointments, including managing director and chair of the MDC in the coming months, this is an exciting time as we build on our momentum to deliver lasting, positive change.”
