Stockport College Director of Apprenticeships, Jane Keys, has been named as Vice President of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce’s (GMCC) Stockport Business Group, stepping up the college’s ambitions to collaborate with businesses in the region.
Jane Keys was selected from five candidates for the role because of her manifesto to tackle skills gaps. She will share the role with F1rst Commercial Recruitment’s Sharon Seville.
GMCC Regional Membership Manager Emma Ladkin said:
Jane was already a keen and engaged member of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce and she demonstrated a clear passion in her objectives, focused on bridging the skills gap between businesses and schools.”
By providing regular opportunities for employers and curriculum leaders to meet, such as working with the Chamber of Commerce and other business organisations, Director Jane Keys and Stockport College will work to bridge skills gaps more efficiently and effectively in the local area. Jane said:
It’s a great honour and privilege to have been selected as one of the vice-presidents for GMCC. My manifesto had three main aims: plugging the skills gap by bringing in advisory groups for every sector in our College, to improve the economy to see positive growth and to create more collaboration by supporting each other to secure more government funding.
“I’m really looking forward to working with Sharon Seville and Stuart Bradley, President, to achieve this.”
