Ahead of the Stockport Independent Living Centre opening later this March, organisations in the borough are being asked to help furnish the space.
The Independent Living Centre will provide residents, carers, and professionals with a realistic home-style space to explore daily living equipment, receive early advice, and build confidence in independent living. It will also support staff learning and strengthen prevention and early-help approaches across Stockport.
Construction will be starting soon, and the team behind the space is now seeking donations to help furnish the centre’s lounge, kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom and make the space look more like a home.
They are looking for items such as:
- Lounge: sofa, armchair, coffee table, rug, lamps, cushions
- Kitchen: pans, crockery, cutlery, kettle, artificial plant
- Bedroom: bedding, pillows, lamp, bedside table, rug, artwork
- Bathroom: bath mat, artificial plant
No volunteer time is required, just the items themselves. If you’d prefer to support financially any donations would also be welcomed. Contributions will help create a welcoming, practical space that promotes independence, wellbeing, and early support for residents across Stockport.
If your organisation can help support the launch of the Independent Living Centre, either in part or in full, please contact Jenny Barber at Stockport Council for more information, or match on the Match My Project platform.
