Founders and organisers, Clarke Nicklin Chartered Accountants, have revealed that the generous donations of attendees at the Stockport Business Awards raised over £4,000 for this year’s charity partners, Seashell Trust.
During the awards ceremony and gala dinner at Edgeley Park on 6th October, Seashell Trust didn’t leave a dry eye in the building after showing an emotional video of one of their service users and the journey she had been on over 20 years of support from the organisation.
Seashell Trust is a national learning disability charity and supports children and young people with complex and profound learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional communication needs from across the UK. They provide education, care, and support for people aged from 2 to 25 years at their outstanding school and college, their residential homes, and a host of sport camps and training programmes for families; all from their 30-acre site in Cheadle Hulme.
A spokesperson from the charity commented:
“We were bowled over by the generosity of all those who attended the Stockport Business Awards which raised a whopping £4,165 for Seashell on the evening. Businesses across Stockport clearly take great pride in the borough’s thriving voluntary sector. As Seashell approaches its bicentenary the charity is doing more than ever to give the children and young adults we support the very best start in life. To know that we have the backing of so many companies across Stockport is extremely heartening.”
Charity partner applications for Stockport Business Awards 2023 will open next year. Organisations interested in applying, should contact awards organiser and Clarke Nicklin’s Head of Marketing and Business Development, Laura Frost to be added to receive updates on when and how to apply.
