Stockport-based architectural practice Bowker Sadler has announced the appointment of Alison Duxbury (pictured) as Director, welcoming her back to the firm a decade after first joining.
Bringing more than 25 years’ experience and a strong connection to the practice’s people and values, Duxbury’s return follows seven years as a director of Triangle Architects, where she oversaw housing, education, healthcare, regeneration and masterplanning projects.
Her appointment strengthens the practice’s senior leadership team at an exciting time of growth, with a diverse range of projects progressing across the North West and further afield. Amongst Duxbury’s notable projects are the UK’s first purpose-built, majority LGBTQ+ Extra Care Housing scheme for Great Places Housing Group and the Hattersley Central regeneration project in Tameside. Her experience across complex housing and regeneration schemes brings valuable insight to Bowker Sadler’s growing portfolio of residential, education, regeneration and commercial work.
In her new role, she will support the continued development of the practice, working closely with the team to strengthen client relationships, support project delivery and explore new opportunities for growth. Of returning to the Stockport archictectural practice, Alison Duxbury said:
“It’s great to be back at Bowker Sadler at such an exciting time. There’s a real sense of momentum across the practice, with a fantastic team, a diverse range of projects and some great opportunities ahead.
“Having spent the last seven years broadening my experience across a range of sectors and projects, I’m looking forward to bringing that knowledge back to a practice I know well. It feels like a real full-circle moment, and I’m excited to be part of the studio’s next chapter.”
Paul Jeffrey, director at Bowker Sadler, added:
“We’re extremely pleased to welcome Alison back. She knows the practice well, understands what makes it special and brings a wealth of experience that will be a real asset to the team.
“Her return comes at a great time for Bowker Sadler. We have a strong pipeline of projects, an ambitious team and a real appetite to keep developing what we do. Alison’s experience and enthusiasm will be invaluable as we continue to grow.”
The appointment comes as Bowker Sadler progresses a number of major developments across the region, including new school projects with Galliford Try and Conlon Construction, 192 affordable homes at Droylsden Marina, 83 homes at Coalbrook Court in East Manchester, the Houghton Green Estate Regeneration project in Tameside for Irwell Valley, together with commercial projects for Cats Protection and the University of Manchester.
