A 65,000 sq ft industrial unit in Poynton has been acquired by hunting and firearms supplier, Edgar Brothers, in an £8.325 million deal.
Founded in 1947, Edgar Brothers is one of the oldest, most well established importers and wholesalers of firearms, ammunition and associated products. Once fit out is completed later this year, the site in Poynton will become a new headquarters and National Defence Manufacturing and Innovation Centre for the firm, which will relocate from its existing base in Macclesfield’s Lyme Green Business Park.
The unit on Poynton Industrial Estate was originally occupied by API Laminates, before being acquired in Autumn 2025 by Quorum and Chestergate. The joint venture refurbished the unit, branding it as QC65, stripping the building back to its structural frame before rebuilding as a modern, high-quality industrial facility.
Cheshire-based agent Williams Sillitoe was appointed as the sole agent for the scheme, and identified Edgar Brothers as a potential purchasers while refurbishment was still underway.
Mark Sillitoe, director at Williams Sillitoe, said:
“QC65 is a great example of what can be achieved through the comprehensive redevelopment of an existing industrial asset. Working with Edgar Bros from an early stage allowed us to tailor the building around their requirements to build an impressive new headquarters.
“The South Manchester and Cheshire East market continues to thrive and with freehold opportunities in short supply, we were confident that this development was always going to prove popular to the owner-occupier market.”
Mike Newman, Director of Edgar Brothers, said:
“With the growing demand for UK sovereign capability and the adoption of advanced manufacturing methods such as additive manufacturing, now is the ideal time for Edgar Brothers to lead this transformation. This investment demonstrates our commitment to supporting the UK MOD and establishing the North West as a hub for innovation and manufacturing. We plan to work closely with our existing suppliers to ensure that years of innovation and expertise are preserved, and that the quality of the final product remains market-leading. The move will also open up export markets we are currently not utilising and will create many skilled jobs in the region.”
