Plans submitted for 152 affordable homes in Woodley

Great Places Housing Group have partnered with housebuilder Anwyl and submitted plans for over 150 affordable homes in Woodley.

The proposed scheme comprises 152 homes on land off Gravel Bank Road, with all homes to be developed as affordable housing. The 23.8 acre site has been identified within Stockport Council’s draft local plan as a suitable location for new housing.

If approved, the scheme will add to the more than 350 affordable homes already being brought forward by Great Places Housing Group, which recently topped out at a town centre apartment scheme on Chestergate.

Great Places’ Director of Growth, Nick Gornall, said:

“This is an important milestone for the scheme following months of careful design work and engagement with local people, including taking on board feedback from the pre-planning consultation.”

The proposed development is being brought forward by Anwyl Partner Projects, the specialist affordable housing arm of Anwyl, with Great Places as the intended Registered Provider partner. The plans include a mix of homes designed to respond to local housing need and support wider housing growth across Stockport, and could be handed over to Great Places by late 2027 if promptly approved.
