Staff and pupils at Castle Hill Special School are delighted with their recent Ofsted inspection which found it to be outstanding in all areas.
The Ofsted inspector, who spent two days at the Brinnington school, commented that ‘outstanding’ teaching ensures students make exceptionally rapid progress and outstanding achievement’.
The inspector also highlighted that ‘students behave exceptionally well’ and that they ‘make great gains in confidence and are extremely eager to learn.’
The Headteacher at Castle Hill Special School, John Law, said:
“I am so pleased with this outstanding report which recognises the hard work and dedication of all the staff and pupils at the school. We are committed to providing the very best education for all our pupils. We are not complacent and will continue to look to improve in the future as we move to our new location in Offerton.
“We work in partnership with the local authority who provide us with excellent support. We have a strong pro-active Governing body led by a forward thinking Chair of Governors, Bevon Blackwood, who challenges and supports in a balanced and constructive way.”
Councillor Shan Alexander, Executive Member for Lifelong, Learning and Achievement, said:
“I would like to congratulate everyone at Castle Hill Special School on their ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report. This report only serves to enhance the school’s first class reputation – well done everyone.”
To celebrate the outstanding inspection the school is holding a fancy dress event on Friday 8th November which will also include art and craft activities, an entertainer, a disco, a BBQ and a best outfit competition.
Earlier this year the decision was made to relocate the school to a new location in Offerton by September 2014.
