Greater Manchester’s Youth Task Force is inviting businesses and other organisations across the city-region to commit to supporting a Guarantee for young people.
The Guarantee for young people is currently being developed to support those aged 11-30 years old to feel positive about the future after being impacted by the coronavirus pandemic. The commitments process launched on 23rd September in a meeting of over 100 stakeholders and the Youth Task Force and Youth Advisory Group.
Greater Manchester’s Guarantee for young people will focus on four key themes – keeping connected, staying well, making effective transitions, and removing economic inequalities – which were agreed by young people during a consultation earlier in 2020.
Chair of Youth Task Force, Diane Modahl, said:
We know many organisations and groups across Greater Manchester’s boroughs already work hard to support and help young people. ?Now more than ever we need that support to continue as the impact of COVID-19 becomes more apparent.
“We are now inviting you to get in touch to make a commitment as part of the Young Person’s Guarantee to help us protect the futures of young people, to help build resilience and optimism by raising awareness about opportunities on offer for young people.
“Our ask is that local organisations make one or more commitment for young people (aged 11-30) linking to one of the four key areas the Guarantee is focusing on and help raise awareness of our work by sharing messages and encouraging others to get involved.”
Two organisations already committing to supporting the scheme are UA92, which has offered £5,000 grants to allow young people in Greater Manchester to access higher education; and the Prince’s Trust which will invest £250,000 into driving forward parts of the Guarantee.
There is no deadline for submitting commitments as the Task Force will be continually promoting opportunities to ensure young people can benefit from what’s on offer at a time that suits them.
Further information about the commitments and how to get involved with the Young Person’s Guarantee is available on the GMCA website.
