Children from the Cheadle Hulme community were welcomed into their new primary school this week, following a year of building worK when Oak Tree Primary School’s new building was completed in time for the September intake.
The new facilitty will provide a high-quality educational facility for many years to come, eventually providing 630 places as the expanded year groups move through.
Councillor Shan Alexander, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Safe & Resilient Communities, said:
“Governors and staff at the school have worked extremely hard to get to this point, and I would like to thank them for their commitment and support for this exciting project.
“I know that the high quality of teaching at the school will mean that Oak Tree Primary is a huge success. We are very grateful to Carillion Construction for their work so far – the building looks fantastic. There is still a way to go with the demolition works and landscaping to follow.”
Christine Slater, Oak Tree Primary School’s Headteacher, said:
“Children have been very excited about the new building and have been really pleased with their new classrooms. All the staff and governors hope that the new environment will enhance their education experiences for many years to come.”
