Stockport-headquartered circular economy pioneer musicMagpie has been nominated in three categories at this year’s Mobile News Awards.
musicMagpie’s new partnership with Timpson has been shortlisted for ‘Trade-in and Retail Programme of the Year’ and the company has also been nominated for the ‘Online Retailer’ and ‘Secondary Market Provider’ gongs.
The Timpson partnership was rolled out nationwide in January and allows Brits to trade-in their old phone at more than 1,300 Timpson stores in the UK and receive cash to their bank account within minutes.
It was launched after research commissioned by musicMagpie found that 73% of Brits have at least one unused phone at home, meaning that there is an estimated £10 billion locked away in the nation’s junk drawers.
Steve Oliver, founder and managing director of musicMagpie, said:
“We’re delighted to be shortlisted in three categories at the Mobile News Awards.
“The ‘Take it to Timpson’ campaign has been a huge success since we launched it a couple of months ago and our partnership with Timpson continues to go from strength to strength. It being recognised in this way is a huge testament to the hard work of everyone involved.
“Our research showed that the majority of Brits want the ability to trade-in their unused tech in person, so it’s brilliant that the partnership allows people to do just that and receive cash in their bank accounts within minutes.
“The Mobile News Awards is one of the flagship events in our industry so it’s always a proud moment to be nominated. Hopefully we can bring all three awards back to Stockport!”
musicMagpie also recently won eBay UK’s first ever lifetime achievement award after becoming the first global seller to hit 20 million positive reviews on the platform
The Mobile News Awards will be held at the London Hilton on Park Lane, on Thursday 19 March.
