Stockport-headquartered musicMagpie has been named ‘Online Retailer of the Year’ at the annual Mobile News Awards.
The industry-leading ceremony, which celebrates excellence in the mobile sector, was held at the London Hilton on Park Lane last night (Thursday 19 March).
musicMagpie was acquired by Bolton-based electricals giant AO in late 2024 and has recently launched a partnership with Timpson, bringing in-person mobile phone trade-ins for instant cash to more than 1,300 UK stores.
Judges praised musicMagpie for delivering “an online shopping experience that is smart, seamless and sustainable” and noted that the retailer has “developed a platform that really tackles the problem of negative stigma from consumers about the online buying experience with used electronics.”
Steve Oliver, co-founder and managing director of musicMagpie, said:
“We’re delighted to be recognised in this way and it’s a testament to the team’s hard work.
“The Timpson partnership has been a game-changer for our customers and it’s been fantastic to see this go from strength to strength since rolling it out at the start of the year.
“Joining the AO family in late 2024 has also been brilliant for us and I’m really excited to see what the future brings.”
musicMagpie also recently won eBay UK’s first ever lifetime achievement award after becoming the first global seller to hit 20 million positive reviews on the platform.
