Consumer tech recycling market leader, musicMagpie, has developed a new service for the corporate market, allowing businesses to improve sustainability and generate funds from unused technology products and is partnering with TheBusinessDesk for the launch.
The Stockport-based business will expand its existing service to cater to corporate businesses, allowing them to recycle unwanted tech, such as company smartphones, tablets and Apple computers, either to access funds, pay for staff rewards or donate to a charitable cause. By recycling the unwanted goods, businesses can help meet environmental and sustainability goals: electronic waste is the fastest growing waste stream in the world, according to a recent UN report and mining of rare metals used in hi-tech electronics is also one of the biggest polluters.
musicMagpie’s new corporate service will allow more businesses to promote the environmental benefits of a circular economy model that can increase the lifecycle of their tech, parts and component materials through recycling.
Jon Miller, Chief Commercial Officer at musicMagpie, said:
We want everyone in the UK to make smarter tech choices, especially when it comes to recycling unwanted technology – a growing issue in our increasingly tech-reliant world. Whether you’re a large PLC with hundreds of phones or a small design studio looking to upgrade your MacBooks, we can help.”
“Most businesses will have a number of unused tech items due to upgrading and will be surprised to learn how much they can earn from trading them in. It’s an unknown, yet fast and convenient way to help raise funds whilst contributing to the reduction of e-waste.”
Based on its experience in the consumer market, the tech recycling firm undergoes a number of WEEE and GDPR compliant processes to ensure all information is erased from devices and can provide data erasure certificates to corporate clients on request.
musicMagpie has launched a corporate section to its website to promote the new service, where businesses can receive a bespoke quote for their technology products, based on the quantity or specification, with items collected by courier.
musicMagpie is partnering with B2B media outlet, TheBusinessDesk.com to drive awareness of its new service to businesses across the UK.
Lee-j Walker, joint managing director of TheBusinessDesk.com said:
We’re pleased to be working with musicMagpie to support the roll out of this new initiative. Sustainability is high on the agenda for business of all sizes and in all sectors. With this new service it has never been easier for businesses to recycle their old tech products and help tackle the rising issue of e-waste.”
Recent partners to have already taken advantage of the scheme include Adidas and Manchester’s City’s community division, City in the Community, as well as media group Dentsu Aegis Network North, who have traded in180 devices.
