Stockport recommerce business, musicMagpie, continues to give its backing to the Cash4Kids Mission Christmas campaign this year, ensuring disadvantaged children across the UK will still receive a present this festive season.
With the coronavirus pandemic and its economic impact meaning many families are seeing their finances stretched further this Christmas, more children could be waking up on Christmas Day without anything under the tree in 2020.
Last year, musicMagpie made use of its logistics expertise to support the charity campaign, dedicating a whole section of its warehouse in Hazel Grove to collecting and distributing presents to children living in poverty (pictured, prior to social distancing guidelines). Over 100 days of volunteer labour were also provided by staff at the firm to help organise and dispatch toys from the warehouse.
musicMagpie sellers were also invited to donate their proceeds from items sent to the business for resale to the Cash4Kids charity, and six other partners, as well as inviting sellers to send new toys in with their orders.
Steve Oliver, Group CEO of musicMagpie outlined how the business is supporting the Cash4Kids Mission Christmas campaign again this year. He said:
“This year we are delighted to once again be supporting the Mission Christmas Cash4Kids campaign by hosting the collection and distribution operation in our Hazel Grove warehouse.
“2020 has been a challenging year for many people, irrespective of circumstances and many families unexpectedly face poverty.
“More and more children could be waking up on Christmas Day without anything under the tree which is why there is now an urgent need to make sure that no child is forgotten and that as many kids as possible have presents to open on Christmas day.
“Since early in the year, we have been asking people selling their items to us to add in a new cuddly toy to their inbound parcel and we have gathered thousands of toys to start off the collection.
Many of our customers have also donated the proceeds of their sale to Cash4Kids; last year enough money was raised by the Cash4Kids Mission Christmas scheme to make sure that over 45,000 kids got presents and this year we are hoping that we can support the scheme in doing even better.“And as office Christmas parties are off the agenda this year, why not give a thought to supporting this amazing charity and help to bring a smile to the faces of even more children this year?”
With customers asked to donate cuddly toys throughout the year to start of the collection, musicMagpie has already been able to gather thousands of presents ready to be given away to children living in poverty this Christmas.
