MAN Diesel & Turbo UK Ltd (MDT-UK) was recently visited by representatives of the UK Ministry of Defence and Royal Navy to formally launch a new contract between the engineering giant and Her Majesty’s Government.

The MET Lot 10 Contract was won in a competitive scenario and will support the company’s Paxman, Ruston and Pielstick engines across the UK Royal Navy Fleet including the Type 23 Anti-Submarine Warfare Frigate Fleet, Trafalgar and Vanguard class submarines, Sandown class Single Role Mine Hunter ships and the helicopter and troop carrier HMS Ocean.
Lt. Cmdr. John McCombe (left) of HM Royal Navy said;
“The MoD Diesel Engine Group (DEG) welcomes the formal placement of this new contract between ourselves and MDT-UK to provide overhaul and spares support for our vessels and we look forward to working closely together over the forthcoming years.”
The meeting was also used as a springboard for further revisions in the ongoing support provided by MDT-UK to the UK MoD and sees the start of a major contract that will be of vital importance to the company for the next seven years.
