Stockport’s Mastercall Healthcare is a finalist in the UK Social Enterprise Awards, recognising it as one of the country’s most innovative and impactful businesses.
Mastercall, which provides a range of ‘Out of Hospital’ healthcare services in Stockport, across the North-West and Nationwide, is shortlisted in the ‘Public Services Social Enterprise of the Year’ category at this year’s awards.
The awards, organised by Social Enterprise UK to recognise sector-leading excellence and innovation by social enterprise organisations across a diverse range of criteria. Social enterprises are mission-led businesses that reinvest or donate at least half their profits for a social or environmental purpose.
There are an estimated 131,000 social enterprises in the UK, employing more than two million people and contributing £60 billion to the national economy each year, while also tackling some of the biggest challenges facing people and planet.
Alongside their work supporting the NHS to deliver their strategy for living and ageing well, Mastercall has an extensive social value commitment that is helping tackle digital exclusion in the more deprived areas of their communities. The organisation also funds a meal delivery service through Cracking Good Food has seen thousands of meals delivered to recently discharged hospital patients in Stockport and Trafford who are facing food poverty. Numerous charities including dementia groups, mental health charities, hospices and community organisations also continue to be supported by Mastercall.
