Manchester Airports Group launches latest Little Book of Travel Tales

Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has launched its latest Little Book of Travel Tales to entertain young travellers taking flight this summer. 

The book will be handed out by airport colleagues across terminals at the group’s three sites, Manchester, London Stansted and East Midlands airports, throughout the summer holidays featuring stories submitted by schoolchildren.

The book was created as part of a World Book Day competition earlier this year, which was held at schools surrounding all three airports, with schoolchildren given the chance to share their stories with passengers. Seven schools were involved in submitting their tales around themes of flights, aircraft, holidays and working at the airport. In addition to 13 different stories, the book includes puzzles, activities and a holiday diary.  

The book has been published as part MAG’s newly launched ‘Little Flyers Club’. The Club, set up for MAG’s young travellers, is made up of five animated characters – Jet, Porter, Casey, Carrie and Finn. W The Club aims to educate and entertain children about travel and aviation as they fly off for their holidays. Young people can also find the characters as they travel through the airport and pose for a photo with their favourite. 

The publication of the latest Little Book of Travel Tales is part of MAG’s commitment to creating opportunity for all –which is a pillar of its CSR Strategy. MAG has a leading engagement programme with local schools surrounding its airports, to showcase the variety of career opportunities in the sector, inspiring the next generation of aviation professionals.  

The book has received widespread positive feedback from pupils and teachers alike, with one teacher saying it gave their students “the opportunity to write for purpose, it really inspired our learners, and they have found a new love for writing!”
