Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce, the largest Chamber of Commerce in the UK, has launched a dedicated EU Referendum website which can be found at www.gmcceuref.co.uk
The Chamber have taken the stance of not campaigning one way or another, and instead are focusing on making sure their members (and others) can make an informed decision based on the available facts and the information the Chamber can supply.
At the same time the Chamber are trying to cut through the political point scoring and, in my opinion, the fairly wild statements and scaremongering that we have all become accustomed too as the In/Out debate has rumbled along and are instead focusing on the real issues in what is for many a once in a life time pivotal moment in this country’s history.
The website includes fundamental information about the EU and its governance, an analysis of the key reforms negotiated by Prime Minister, David Cameron, and an overview of some of the survey results conducted so far.
As the campaign progresses, the Chamber will be conducting further surveys of its own, and getting the views of businesses on both sides of the debate, as well as the views from local MPs and institutions and chambers of commerce from across Europe.
The website will be updated regularly with information about the Chamber’s campaign activity, which will include hustings events, regular blogs and input from the campaign groups on both sides of the debate and includes a question and answer session designed to “mythbust” some of the statements from both sides as the campaign progresses.
When it comes to voting on the 23rd June the most important things is to be able to make an informed decision and the Chamber’s EU Referendum Campaign website goes a long way to assisting with that.
