Local businesses enjoyed a free digital session with Google experts at Bredbury Hall last Friday designed to help Stockport businesses grow by becoming more aware of how Google can assist.
Lisa Smart, Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Hazel Grove who arranged the event said:
“The Google event was a great success, and I think all businesses that attended found it worthwhile.
“A successful online presence is vital for many of our local businesses in Stockport and successful small businesses mean a strong local economy – so supporting our local businesses is key. This is why I’m so glad we were able to bring free Google help to Stockport!”

Andrew Stunell, MP for Hazel Grove said:
“I’ve been working hard to make sure local businesses have all they need to grow and prosper. I was delighted that so many came along to get top tips from the world experts on digital marketing. It was an eye-opener that I’m sure will help those who attended.”
Recent research has shown that businesses which have a presence online, grow four to eight times faster than those who don’t. Google provided Stockport business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs with advice and tips as the workshop was part of Google’s drive to help small businesses grow using the Internet and to help business owners harness new ‘e-skills.
So far over 250,000 businesses have been helped through the programme. By encouraging and supporting a variety of businesses to use the Internet effectively, from entrepreneurs and one-man-band start-ups, to larger companies, these workshops aim to improve the country’s Internet economy.
