MAN Diesel & Turbo UK Ltd (MDT-UK) is delighted to announce the recent signing of a multi-million pound contract with the Ching Fu Shipbuilding Company in Taiwan.
The contract is to supply sixty twelve cylinder MAN VP185 TM high-speed diesel engines over a six-year period with the first two engines due for delivery in May 2014.
The engines, which will include the gearbox, will be installed in twenty eight fast patrol vessels for the Taiwan Coastguard with each vessel being fitted with two engines as main propulsion units.
Manufacturing will take place at MAN Diesel & Turbo’s Colchester facility.
The contract was secured against rigorous competition in co-operation with the MAN Diesel & Turbo Singapore office and represents a fantastic breakthrough in selling this well established and much respected engine for Navy and Fast Patrol Boat applications.
