Fairhurst Estates have been supporting and offering sponsorship to “The Solomon Project,” which provides a daily school meal for some of the hungriest children in Kenya.
Left: Children from the Solomon Project benefit from Fairhurst’s support
The charity is breaking the cycle of poverty and bringing hope to the hungry, with education. Since January, the money we provided has guaranteed over 100 children every day have received a nutritious, healthy meal.
By receiving a meal in school each day the children have an incentive to attend and through education, gain a better future for themselves and their communities.
The benefits being:-
- Daily attendance dramatically rises
- When the gnawing pain of hunger is removed, concentration in classes improves
- Better grades lead to greater opportunities in life and a chance to break the cycle of poverty
“Since it began in 2010, The Solomon Project has fed over 9,000 needy children, in school every day. In turn, developing community, micro-economies, providing jobs and breaking down tribal tensions. To feed a child in school for a whole year costs just £17, or 8 pence per day. Giving a little, changes a life.”
