Housebuilder, Vistry, has completed a new extra care development, The Peaks in Stockport, as part of the Woodford Garden Village scheme.
Providing 87 new apartments and 17 bungalows, The Peaks sits on the site of the former Woodford Aerodrome, a former aviation factory that produced Lancaster Bombers, Vulcan Bombers, and Nimrods, before its closure in 2011 after almost 90 years of operation. Within the scheme, Vistry has also completed resident facilities including a commercial kitchen, communal lounge, hairdressing salon and guest suite.
Vistry has handed over the development at Woodford Garden Village to not-for-profit provider of housing and care for people in later life, Anchor.
Zac Worthington, Managing Director of Vistry Merseyside & Cheshire West, said:
“As one of the UK’s largest providers of mixed-tenure homes, working with later living and extra care providers like Anchor is extremely important to us. Providing more homes of this tenure in communities where they’re needed most is an absolutely critical part of the housing market which is often overlooked, so we’re delighted to fully complete and hand over the site.”
Victoria Mager, Director of Development Delivery for Anchor, added:
“This scheme represents an important investment in high-quality, affordable housing that supports older people and their evolving needs. At Anchor, we’re dedicated to creating homes where people can enjoy later life to the fullest. The Peaks is a great example of how thoughtfully designed communities can be created to meet the needs of older people in the local area.”?
