easyJet has announced it will operate a new winter route to Kittilä in Finnish Lapland from Manchester Airport, an entirely new destination for the airline.
The budget carrier hopes that the twice-weekly service will make Christmas that extra bit magical this winter for families in the North, providing the opportunity to explore Santa’s village and meet Father Christmas and Rudolph.
Kittilä is located 150 km north of Rovaniemi in the northern Arctic Circle and will also appeal to winter sports lovers, stargazers looking for a glimpse of the Northern lights and those who wish to explore the snowy alpine forests in the region.
The new flights which are on sale at easyJet.com from today will operate twice a week throughout the Christmas peak winter season on Thursdays and Sundays from 16th November.
Having last year added a new route connecting Manchester to Rovaniem in the heartland of Lapland, the addition of Kittilä provides even more choice for those from the North West considering booking a magical Christmas break.
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK Country Manager said:
“We’re delighted to be adding a new route from Manchester to Kittilä this winter. As an entirely new destination in our network, this new connection means we are able to build on our offering from Manchester for those in search of winter breaks by providing customers more choice to enjoy an even greater range of destinations this winter at fantastic low fares. Lapland is perfect especially for families with children looking to visit Father Christmas, winter ski lovers and all those wishing to explore this magical arctic destination.”
Robert Smith, Aviation Director at Manchester Airport, said:
“We know a family trip to Lapland is on many of our passengers’ Christmas lists so it’s fantastic to see easyJet launching a service from Manchester to Kittilä this winter.
“This new service demonstrates easyJet’s commitment to providing outstanding choice year-round to passengers flying from Manchester.”
