Stockport Homes Group has secured accreditation from the Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) for how the housing provider deals with domestic abuse.
Stockport Homes Group sought out the accreditation as part of a willingness to be open to external scrutiny across all areas of its work, in particular in regard to outcomes for its customers.
Securing the accreditation followed an in-depth assessment process, which comprises focus groups with staff and partner agencies, case studies and ‘reality checks’ on how policies and procedures are put into action. In the accreditation report, DAHA also noted the expertise of Stockport Homes’ newly formed domestic abuse team. The report stated:
“Staff consistently praised the domestic abuse team, expressing how knowledgeable they are and how beneficial their service has been in strengthening the response to domestic abuse.“
Feedback from partner organisations to DAHA also positively reflected on Stockport Homes Group’s attitudes to continuous improvement, both within the wider organisational culture in specifically in reference to domestic abuse. The accreditation report added:
“SHG is a ‘values led organisation’ …they are clear about what the values are, and people believe in them because of this. There was clear pride in SHG’s culture from across all staff that were spoken to.“
