Greater Manchester residents are being encouraged to apply for digital skills training programmes created through the Fast Track Digital Workforce fund.
The fully funded training schemes have been designed to help create greater opportunities for people the city-region to secure digital employment and close the skills gap in the sector.
Training is being delivered by organisations including CompTIA, Raytheon Professional Services and Sharpfutures to develop skills in areas including digital content creation and cybersecurity.
14 projects in Greater Manchester and Lancashire are being funded by the Fast Track Digital Workforce Fund, a £3 million fund focused on digital skills training in the region set up by the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS), Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) and Lancashire Digital Skills Partnership (LDSP). Schemes have been set up specifically to target disadvantaged and underrepresented groups to secure a route into employment in the digital economy.
Digital skills training programmes now open to applications include:
- Cyber Ready North West – a six-month retraining course to prepare graduates for a cybersecurity related employment/
- The Cyber Academy – a project to deliver core skills, personal and professional skills and technical qualifications to work as a cybersecurity engineer.
- Transition Courses – 8 to 20 week training courses provided by Sharpfutures and ITV for unemployed or low-paid residents. Courses currently open for applicants cover Digital Content Creation and Digital Production Management.
