Danish homewares retailer, JYSK (pronounced yoosk), has confirmed its Stockport store will open on July 8th 2021 at the Manchester Road Retail Park.
JYSK, which has its UK head office in Hazel Grove, revealed plans earlier this year to open two new stores in Greater Manchester, along with three other branches around the UK in 2021. A new branch in Bury will open on June 10th. Both the Bury and Stockport sites will be within one hour of the existing Oldham store, allowing for sites to share resources and open more sustainably.
The brand’s expansion in the UK comes following record growth results in its 2019/20 financial year, which saw global turnover increase 7.6%, in part driven by the pandemic leading us to spend more time at home and place greater value on comfortable surroundings in our living spaces.
Jenny Johnston, JYSK’s sales and marketing manager for UK and Ireland, said:
We are thrilled to be opening two stores in Greater Manchester to make our affordable and much-loved furniture even more accessible in the North.
“Our head office operations are also based in Stockport, so we have a strong affinity for the area and continue to see it prosper.
“The Bury and Stockport stores will bring the affordable Scandi homewares and furniture that we are synonymous with to discerning and design-conscious shoppers of Greater Manchester who will be able to click and collect the same day, as well as explore exclusive in-store lines.”
Founded in 1979, JYSK is the world’s largest Danish retailer with 2900 stores, employing 24,000 in 51 countries. The new store openings will create 25 new jobs in Greater Manchester.
