Reddish South & Denton Stations currently have one train per week one way only to Stalybridge. The line actually goes to Manchester Victoria Station.
We are campaigning to have the Stockport-Manchester Victoria line reinstated to regular passenger services and open up the East Manchester Corridor so that trains from / to Stockport and come from/go to Victoria as well as Piccadilly.
Victoria Station is now at the heart of Manchester’s shopping, entertainment (its actually next door to the MEN Arena!) and cultural areas and it is waste and shame we have a line from Stockport that could go there directly and give residents of central & south Reddish and Denton a service too.
It would greatly enhance Stockport rail services north & south and Manchester’s rail services north east and south. We would love your support!
From 9th December 2012 the train now is scheduled as follows:
10.15am from Stockport
10.20am from Reddish South
10.24am from Denton
this means that our Folk Train on 21st December will now be run approximately an hour later that we are used to.However, we try and enjoy our one train a week too! The Friends of Reddish South Station, with the Friends of Denton are having a Christmas Folk Train Special on 21st December 2012.
Please join us – 10.15am from Stockport (Platform 3a we think) 10.20am from Reddish South Station and 10.24am from Denton Station
Stalybridge Station has good connections to Piccadilly & Victoria.
Stalybridge Buffet Bar has an excellent choice of Breakfasts from light bites to full English and you can sample many local & guest ales – the staff are welcoming and open up a room for us.
Most importantly our Folk Train Special would not be a Folk train or special without Phil & Ged (2 Blokes with a Guitar) and Rob on viola who will play while there’s an audience!
