Stockport based Broadgrove Planning are encouraging businesses, developers, landowners and investors to engage with Stockport Council’s new local plan to guide development in the future.
‘Call for Sites’ is part of the work being undertaken to develop a new Local Plan for Stockport and an opportunity, not only for landowners and building owners to put their land forward, but for anyone to suggest a particular use of land or a building for consideration in the future.
Suggested schemes might include an area of open space protected for recreational use; or a business site that should be protected to provide local jobs; or a site that could be improved by changing from its current use such as for example, a site that could be ideally developed for housing, business or leisure.
Andy McMullan, Planning Director at Broadgrove, believes this is a constructive initiative that will have long-term benefits for Stockport:
Stockport Council’s approach in asking for input from the Borough’s residents and businesses is welcomed. It is welcomed that the Council are undertaking a Call for Sites exercise. A number of the Greater Manchester Authorities have paused any further work on their Local Plans until there is greater certainty on the outcome of the Greater Manchester Spatial Framework, which has had a number of delays
“Like most towns and cities throughout the UK, Stockport has a duty to deliver more homes to meet residential demand. By continuing to call for sites and inviting opinions and ideas it enables the Council to fully understand what land is available and deliverable.
“I would urge anyone with land or property to consider promoting their sites for consideration in advance of the deadline and Broadgrove can assist with this process.”
Further information and submission of sites and land can be made HERE
The Call for Sites will close on 28th February 2020.
