A new cocktail bar is to open in Stockport town centre’s Underbanks district run by Blossoms frontman, Tom Ogden and his wife, Katie.
The Bohemian Arts Clubs will occupy a three storey building on Lower Hillgate, accessed by a speakeasy entrance on Coopers Brow. The ground floor will be given over to a salon, a second location for Katie’s Hazel Grove brand, Bohemian. The location is opposite Top of the Town Vintage, itself owned by Sophie Rosemary, fiancée of Blossoms’ Joe Donovan.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Katie has designed the art deco interior for the Bohemian herself, taking inspiration from other bars and speakeasies the couple have attended around the world. Bookings are being taken from Saturday 27th May.
The opening follows the Stockport band, named after the A6 pub, attendance at the launch of the town’s year as Greater Manchester Town of Culture earlier this week.
In recent years Stockport has been widely celebrated as an emerging hub of creative activity in Greater Manchester, and last year was dubbed the ‘new Berlin’ by DJ Luke Unabomber, with the winding streets of Underbanks’ district around the town’s historic marketplace becoming a hotbed for independent businesses and the town’s burgeoning nightlife and live music scene.
