Stockport accountants Bennett Verby have demonstrated their first-hand support of Apprenticeships at an event hosted by the Federation for Small Businesses at Stockport Council’s Apprenticeship Store where more than 30 members heard about the benefits of Apprenticeships to local businesses.
Bennett Verby Accountants spoke passionately around the benefits of Apprenticeships, and staff from the 14-19 Services team at the Council was on hand to answer questions and supply information. A number of businesses that attended are now looking to recruit an apprentice to enhance their workforce.
Councillor Shan Alexander, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Safe & Resilient Communities, said:
“Apprenticeships can help young people in the borough gain confidence and get their first experience of working for a local organisation, which in turn will boost the local economy. I am very encouraged by the excellent response from local employers and providers.”
The Federation for Small Businesses was formed in 1974 and has around 200,000 members nationally, with more than 2,500 locally promoting and protecting the interests of self-employed and small businesses.
If you feel that your business would benefit from an apprentice, please call into the Apprenticeship Store from Monday to Friday from 10am until 4.30pm, or phone 0161 474 4745, or email apprenticeships@stockport.gov.uk The Apprenticeship Store is located at Stockport Exchange, Wellington Road South, Stockport, SK1 3TA.
