
Stockport Homes Group have become industry recognised for providing outstanding services to customers with their pursuit of affordable housing for Stockport residents. Using their innovative approach to commercial growth and entrepreneurial culture, they have progressed into the success of today since building the first ALMO (Arm’s Length Management Organisation) in 2009.
Since spotting a gap in the market with increasing housing prices in the Stockport area, the current figures show that Stockport Homes Group have built 471 affordable homes for rent and 269 for shared ownership.
The group are optimistic about their future and committed to driving local housing supply forward with plans to increase growth across all commercial activity, by ensuring that social housing is central to devolution in the Greater Manchester area.
Last Friday, the 7th of July, residents and guests of Stockport Homes’ Birch Court, Marple celebrated the completion of the works to the first extra care scheme. The court which has undergone investment works worth £180,000 was officially opened by The Deputy Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Walter Brett and Mrs Maureen Brett and William Wragg MP.
The refurbishment for affordable housing, completed by local contractors Jackson and Jackson, included work to the building’s fabric, individual flats and communal areas. Robin Burman, Chair of Stockport Homes’ Board said,
“The investment works reflect our approach to ensuring we have suitable accommodation to allow people to continue living independently, while offering onsite care support, if required.”
Stockport Homes have recently announced that they have been shortlisted for the ‘Best Service Team’ and ‘Best Health & Wellbeing Initiative’ in association for Public Services Excellence (APSE) Annual Service Awards 2017.
Robin Burman continued,
“We are proud to have been shortlisted in these two categories for the APSE awards against strong competition. We pride ourselves on the provision of excellent services and our innovative approach and it’s fantastic to receive recognition for both.”
The APSE recognises the best local government frontline services and this year alone received over 310 submissions.
The winners will be announced during the ceremony at King’s Centre, Oxford on Thursday the 7th of September.
