Stockport businesses are being invited to Q&A session to learn how that can help address economic inactivity in the borough by offering fully-funded work placements.
SKylight, on behalf of Stockport Council, is offering fully funded, Real Living Wage paid placements for six months. Employers who take part will receive a grant to cover wages and employer National Insurance contributions, enabling businesses to provide high value, entry-level work experience without additional cost.
The programme will support up to 30 employers to create new opportunities for Stockport residents. These roles must be structured work placements and should not replace existing recruitment or apprenticeship positions.
Participating offers businesses powerful way to diversify their workforce, support the community, and help local people develop valuable skills through meaningful, mentored experience.
The project runs until 31 March 2026 to support residents who are currently economically inactive across groups including:
- Care-experienced young people
- Residents with SEND
- Armed Forces veterans
- People with long-term health conditions
- Over-50s
An online Q&A presentation will take place on November 27th from 12pm to 1pm, explaining how the scheme works, eligibility, how to apply, and what participation involves for both employers and residents.
For further information and to book a place on the online session, register via Eventbrite.
