Three new Covid-19 vaccination sites are now live in Stockport: Boots Chemist at Merseyway, Boots Chemist in Handforth Dean and Medichem Pharmacy at Woodley Precinct.
The three sites are now open, offering vaccination appointments to anyone aged 30 and over, health and care workers, unpaid carers and those with underlying health conditions.
They will be joined by a fourth site, operated by Well Pharmacy, at Hazel Grove Civic Hall, on Tuesday, 2 June, 2021.
The new sites join Scorah Chemist, whose site at Brookdale Club and Theatre went live last week, as the national vaccine programme, the biggest and fastest in NHS history, continues at pace.
It is essential to book an appointment in advance which can be done online at on the NHS website or by calling 119 for free, seven days a week, between 7am and 11pm.
Dr Cath Briggs, Chair of NHS Stockport Clinical Commissioning Group, said:
This is great news for the vaccination programme in Stockport. We are delighted that more options are now available for people to book their vaccinations when they are eligible.
“It is the second dose of the vaccine which will offer the maximum protection so I also encourage anyone who has been invited for theirs to book it straight away.”
In her weekly statement on the pandemic, Stockport’s Director for Public Health Jennifer Connolly also urged residents to take up the offer of a vaccination as soon as possible to help curb the spread of the virus. She also thanked those who helped to deliver a pop-up vaccination clinic in the town centre last week, saying:
I’d like to thank Everest Pharmacy, St John’s Ambulance and all of the wonderful volunteers who ensured that the clinic ran smoothly and many people were able to get vaccinated. Keep an eye out for more details on a further pop up in Bramhall next week.”
Coronavirus rates starting to increase again in Stockport, with rates at 34.1 per 100,000 as of Friday 28th May, or around 14 new cases each day, so the virus is still circulating in the borough. Figures include the new variants that are circulating both locally and across the country. The latest published data can be found here.
